Adventure is in the Air

{One of these in stock: http://smij-by-jill.myshopify.com/collections/all}
The weather here in Georgia has been Spring-like and we al have adventure on the brain. Just a few things on my list include a train ride to D.C., a road trip the The Ark Encounter and, of course, the beach – any beach, any where, any time. My list continues to grow and we edge closer and closer to better weather. Where are you going?

Custom Orders Open

The custom and made-to-order shop is open for 2017! I’ve already started taking orders and realized I hadn’t officially announced that. I love making your signs so contact me and let’s get started! You can also shop a few here or secure a spot on the production calendar here

Here are some of our recent signs.

Wayfaring Stranger

I heard this old country gospel song for the first time a few weeks ago. I just love it. Not sure where I’ve been because a lot of super cool artists have recorded this with their own arrangement of music and lyrics. I posted Ed Sheeran’s version in this post. I have several friends who have lost their mothers in recent years and one who was very close to losing her’s when I heard this. It just really spoke to me and I couldn’t wait to get the lyrics on a sign. It brought a comfort. We get to go somewhere where there is NO danger, sadness, loneliness, pain or sorrow. That is the promise of heaven to those who are saved. Hallelujah!

Super Bowl Look Book …so far

Whether you are attending a Falcons party or actually going to the game, it’s time to plan those Super Bowl outfits! I’ve been playing around with some casual ideas already. One thing is for sure… like the Falcons themselves, Il be wearing RED in the big day. Stay tuned…

{Get your red football tees at Henry & Pearl in Milton it Serendipity in Roswell.}

Favorite Dressmaker Does it Again

I have a go-to dressmaker, and design idol, and her name is Diane Von Furstenberg. She is my favey, favey, favorite and has been ever since I first wore one of her iconic wrap dresses way back when.

{See dress here.}

Her wrap dresses are simply stunning and timeless. It’s been awhile since I’ve gotten one. Because they are so versatile, well-made and classic, I have worn the few I have over and over again leaving me without the “need” to get a new one. I have THE classic black wrap dress and I can’t even begin to count the places I’ve worn this. Seriously, from church to concerts to work and beyond. A shoe and accessory adjustment and it takes on a new life as needed.

Anyway, I passed this beauty in Nordstrom the other day and now I find myself looking for a reason to dress up! DVF, you continue to come up with winners.

Trip Itinerary – Boston, 3 Days with Family

If you’ve been following for awhile, you know I took a big road trip to Boston this past summer.  I realize I never shared my itinerary.  I did a lot of research to try to cover as much as possible with a 3 year old in tow.  I think we did pretty good and we all had an absolute blast.  If you want to plan a trip, too, maybe my homework will give you a head start.

Also, check out my Instagram feed from July – I put lots of details about these pictures and what I loved about my trip to Boston, MA.

#HeadedtoHouston #SMIJlovesFalcons

Falcons are headed to Houston for the Game Day of all Game Days. It is so fun to celebrate together as a city and support our home team Falcons!  I think we’re going to be seeing A LOT of red & black for the next two weeks.  Of course, it’s time to start planning that Super Bowl #ootd . Party hop in a SMIJ tee! I’ll be posting Game Day outfit ideas for the next two weeks. And, if you are wearing a SMIJ tee to support the Falcons, share your picture with me. #smijlovesfalcons Go Falcons! Rise Up!

Rise Up

I’m all for jumping on a fun bandwagon and the Falcons’ one is rolling by today! Luckily my red and black can easily be repurposed for what’s an extended football season thanks to our Atlanta Falcons. If they pull it out today and beat the Packers, they’ll be going to the Super Bowl and red & black SMIJ tees will be back at Henry & Pearl for a little football fun right into February. Also, how cute are these Puma red sneakers? Shop here. Rise Up, Falcons!
