Adidas + Athleisure and My Whole New Level

I’ve been embracing the Athleisure category of clothing this Winter and I’m loving it. I’ve been wearing lots of Athleta and even making my own leggings to go with fun tops from Athleta and Lululemon.

I am completely on board with this new program. It fits my lifestyle 99% of the time and there are so many great options available now.

The more I wear this style, the more adventurous I’m getting, too. This could be bad. I just got these fun pants. Leggings covered in pineapples. I love the color combo and the print. And, they are only $40. Now that I can make my own leggings, I have a price cut-off where I’d go ahead and make instead of buy, but $40?! Those I’ll just buy. (Tap picture to see more.)

I have a black sweater from Athleta that I plan to wear with these.

And, check this out!

It comes in a dress! The back of this dress is so cute and almost a whole different look, too. (Tap pictures to see more.)

And the pink sneakers are a must have with it.

Now that Christmas is over I’m already starting to think about transitioning this look into Spring and making it work for a few trips I have planned. I have found a few dresses that will fit my needs and they are so fun. For starters, this track suit dress is the cutest. Going to wear fun sneakers with it for a trip South in Feb. (Tap picture to shop.)

Then, Adidas has some cute and wild dresses that are on my wish list. I love this classic Adidas look, for starters.

Then, here’s where things get a little crazy. I loooooovvvvvve this dress.

Truth is, I wouldn’t dare wear it where I might see someone I know. LOL But, out of town? Definitely! I think this one is coming on my February trip, too. I’ll post a picture of you promise not to comment what you really think. Hee Hee

Skirt the Fall

I’ve been making skirts for Reese and myself these past few weeks and now I really can’t live without them. I’m a big fan of fashion that is effortless, but looks put together and chic. It’s a bonus if you can take one piece and dress it up or down for different activities, too. These skirts are really hitting the mark.

We’ve made them in varying lengths and prints and paired them with tanks and denim jackets so far. I’ve done both wedges and flats with the ones I’ve made. They would look cute with cowboy boots or fun sneakers heading into Fall, too. I’ve ordered some prints with more of a Fall vibe so stay tuned for new ones.

I’m finalizing the pattern for us and then you’ll be able to shop them in Spring 2019.

Next up this Fall is the SMIJ Shirtdress. I love shirt dresses so I’m in the process of combining all my favorite elements of a shirtdress into one perfect style. Picking fabrics now. I’ll be living in those this Fall, for sure.

Sneak Peak at Travel Tee

Thank you for following my blog. It’s a fun way to connect with the SMIJ Community and I appreciate you. I thought you should be the first ones to see our newest travel tees. I’ll be debuting these in Maine. I have lots of East Coast fun planned in the next year so, of course, I need an appropriate tee series to accompany me – and you – on all of our east coast adventures.

Fashion Blogger Find: Great Early Fall Dress(es)

I like to follow fashion bloggers. Some I follow are very similar to my style and some are quite different. By seeing the way they put outfits together I discover great brands that fit my style and get challenged to move outside my comfort zone now and then. One of the fashion influencers I follow is Loverly Gray. She is super cute, local and humble and helpful in her InstaStories and posts. She posted this dress a few weeks ago and I just loved it for several reasons. It comes in several colors, it’s a great price point, its embroidery detail is on-trend and it’s a nice transition weight and style. I wore it yesterday for church and brunch and it handled an early Fall Sunday that was in the hot mid-80s like a champ. Check out her fashion blog for all the details on this dress.

Live on the Edge into Fall

One way that I transition a summer dress into Fall is by adding some edgy, heavier pieces. Here I took my favorite summer dress and added some gunmetal, all black accessories, oversize, black sunnies and, of course, some snakeskin.  And, to give it a bit more Fall vibe, my new Bond lipcolor.  I was cool as a cucumber all day, but looked a little less summery.  Have I mentioned how much I love this dress?!?!

This Dress is Madewell

This Madewell dress is summer perfection. It’s  dark gray and white stripes which gives it endless possibilities. I chose blue and gold yesterday and have so many more plans for it I may have to wear it everyday.

Also, this tote is so cute and under $25. I bought mine while on vacation, but, for you, found it on-line here

Back to the dress… I’m already planning red accessories and shoes for a UGA game early in the season. They have lots of cute dresses in store now in addition to this one. Have fun!

Signature Sunday

I found a $36 dress at Lou & Grey and I have had it on repeat ever since, most recently, for church Sunday.  I’m new to Lou & Grey, but am beginning to really like it.  They have a “signature” fabric that is soft, holds it shape, is casual, but doesn’t look slopping or frumpy.  I’ve worn this dress many times in the past month, dressing it up and down and have washed it twice.  It is a closet staple currently and I just had to share my find.

I love it with this season’s vests in wool or knit, with big chunky scarves and boots or a baseball cap and converse sneakers.  You can even pile on some bling for a night out.  It is a great dress!  Here are some other Lou & Grey options, too.

Windowpane – Wear the Trend

Plaid is really in this Fall and Windowpane is one of the prints that keeps showing up.  I’m making the dress pictured here, but have found lots of Grid Check or Windowpane options.  I’ve listed options ranging from $20 to almost $5,000 (just for fun, of course…).  I love this print in grays and blacks keeping with the menswear vibe it already has.  I girlied mine up with some Kendra Scott. I love the way the red pops against the gray.

South Walton Fashion Week

Fun to outfit plan for this event! Wish I could’ve changed hourly, but…that would have been weird… Also, forgot my hair dryer so pulled back hair, it is! Best laid plans… Oh, AND, forgot bathing suits for my beach weekend… Luckily, lots of ways and places to solve that problem.

I’ll share more of the experience later but thought it would be fun to share some pictures sooner rather than later.

LBD

I’ve been really into Summer Dresses this year (Follow me on Instagram for the proof!) It started with a goal of consolidating my packing for our Boston Road Trip and turned into some great finds for Summers to come.  It was a nice change from my shorts and tees summer uniform.  Summer dresses are one-stop-shopping – just add some shoes and accessories and you are packed!  I grabbed this dress from Kiki Risa in Destin, FL (If that’s not convenient, you can get it HERE, too.) and I know I’ll be wearing it out!  It is soooo comfortable, but still looks nice. It’s like you are secretly wearing a big t-shirt, but everyone thinks you made some effort.  Love that!  And, the color is just perfect, too.  I just love this dress and this brand.  I have another dress from this brand that is just as soft and flattering.  I think this will be a go-to brand and style to finish the summer.  Outfit links below…
On the Kiki Risa topic… If you are in the Destin area and need a great outfit, this is the place to go. They carry great national brands, but also local designers that you can’t just find anywhere – and I had a blast talking with the two girls working the day I was there.  They were fun and helpful but not at all pushy.  It was a fun experience and  I’m sure I’ll be visiting every time I’m in the area!
