Trip Itinerary – Boston, 3 Days with Family

If you’ve been following for awhile, you know I took a big road trip to Boston this past summer.  I realize I never shared my itinerary.  I did a lot of research to try to cover as much as possible with a 3 year old in tow.  I think we did pretty good and we all had an absolute blast.  If you want to plan a trip, too, maybe my homework will give you a head start.

Also, check out my Instagram feed from July – I put lots of details about these pictures and what I loved about my trip to Boston, MA.

Day #3:

Can’t Miss at Madewell

I can’t tell you how many times I walked past Madewell in Lenox Mall and never thought about going in. I shop surgically. 🙂 I usually have little time and I know my favorite places so I usually hit my top shops – Anthropologie, Nordstrom, etc and there’s not a lot of browsing around. When Madewell opened a location closer to me, I got interested and popped in. Now, it’s become a go-to shop for casual dresses. For example, this great short sleeve denim pullover. Loved wearing this over the weekend. It’s a great transition-to-Fall dress because you can add layers of boots as the weather changes. It’s a great color and the fit is perfection. It’s got pleats in just the right places to make it flattering AND comfortable – a balance that I love.

So… With all that being said, I don’t think this exact dress is still available. But, never fear because I’ve also learned this: There is ALWAYS more than one great denim dress at Madewell!

As a matter of fact, I’ve linked to 20 below.  Scroll down and shop the list I’ve put together.  Fun!

Dinner Party Wardrobe Changes

Ok, maybe changing for every course could be a bit obnoxious, but… I’ve got the answer.  Aprons are the answer!  I love my Anthropologie apron.  It’s actually very useful to keep my clothes from getting stained during meal prep AND it’s so cute, it’s like an outfit by itself.  So, grab an apron and you can actually wear a second outfit for dinner parties.  Hee Hee!  OK, still obnoxious, but at least, justifiable.  Click on any picture below to shop the apron.

Trucker Hats & Ray-Bans

I seem to be developing a habit…  I’m loving trucker hats with aviators this summer.  Great way to keep the sun off your face and out of your eyes and there are so many great options right now.  My hats are Judith March (with the exception of my Cowgirl Kitchen one) and there are so many other fun ones out there, too.  I’ve linked to a bunch below.  Cover your summer!

Thank You for Running Skirts

I am a HUGE fan of whoever invented running skirts!  I love how they can take me from the tennis court to a run and are quite a bit more flattering than running shorts.  Count me grateful!  Mine pictured is Lululemon from a few years ago (they really last!), but they have some current great choices I’ve linked to below.

Candy Stripes

I just could not live without this print once I knew it existed.  It reminded me of a beach umbrella and took me to a very happy place.  Not to mention it goes nicely with my Shirtdress & Espadrilles program I got going this summer.  Shop it HERE and other great items in this print below – even for little girls.  Simply irresistible!

For Red, White & Blue, Look No Further Than MuMu

For Red, White & Blue, look no further than MUMU.  I built a list of 67 items that I would love to wear – every last one of them passes the “SMIJ-3-second-test” (Scroll all the way down to see all 67).  I plan to spend the weekend at the beach and these MUMU pieces go very nicely in that environment.  From the coffee shop in the morning, to the beach all day to walking up to get ice cream each evening – and especially to see fireworks.  I know which one I’m wearing for the fireworks already!  Click on any of the pictures to shop each piece.  Have fun and get your RED, WHITE and BLUE on!  U.S.A.!

OTS for an OTP Date Night

{I can’t get enough of this cute bag so I’m sharing it again!}

Off-The-Shoulder for an Outside-the-Perimeter Date Night

Sometimes it takes me a minute or two to get up the nerve to try a new trend and “off-the-shoulder” was one of those trends.  I got this cute top from ChicWish awhile back and finally decided to wear it out for Date Night.  Everywhere we went, I got compliments from perfect strangers.  It was so fun!  My ChicWish version is actually a knock-off of a Tibi that has been so popular since OTS came into style this Spring.  The Tibi one is gorgeous and it still may make its way to my closet someday.  I’m dying over the gingham version.  For you I’ve linked to many cute OTS options that are similar, if not almost identical, to the one I’m wearing.  I’m loving this trend and now have a dress or two in this OTS trend, too.  Shop the list below.  Time to show off those shoulders!

“Mommy, Are You a Pirate?” – One Scarf, Four Ways

I have always loved head scarfs.

In pre-kids days, I’d often drive my VW convertible with a bandana around my hair to keep it out of my face.  These days I go for hats because I’m avoiding sun on my face, but I still love head scarves at the beach and for hiking.  The day I was shooting this post, Reese, asked me if I was a pirate.  Ha!  Not the look I was going for, but I didn’t let that stop me.

Currently, I’m driving a mom-mobile, but someday I’ll be back in that convertible – or Jeep – headscarf back on.  And, no hurry on that, BTW.  I’ll take little voices, even the fighting, for as long as I can hear that.  For now, these bandanas are great for the beach and bad hair days.  I love that bandanas are having a moment and I’m sharing four way to wear them now (see picture above).  I got mine at Nordstom, but you can find them almost anywhere – even in your kids’ dress up bin, I’m sure.  Share with me how you’ll style yours so I can add to the list of options.  Ay Matey!
