Buffalo Check? Check!

Buffalo Check is everywhere right now and I am on board!  Got yours yet?  You can go from Wal-Mart to Saks to score the perfect one for you.  I love this print.  First of all, I’m always looking for fun Game Day options in red and black to support hubby’s team, Georgia Bulldogs.  And, secondly, I love this outdoorsy plaid option – it takes me to a happy place, fireside with some hot cocoa.  I think Wal-Mart is really ahead of it’s time.  Last year, I got a very fun, men’s shirt in buffalo plaid that I’ve been wearing like crazy.  And, this year, its everywhere.  My favorite Buffalo Check piece is from Madewell.  It’s a cape scarf!  Yes, a scarf you can wear like a cape.  I love this versatile idea and they have these in several prints and colors.  I think they are on to something…

"I Don't Think I'll Wear Plaid Today" said me NOT one day in October

Obviously October has brought out the plaid in me!  It’s been my go-to all month and I just can’t get enough.  I’ve even managed to find plaids that work, colorwise, for Game Day outfits.  And, it’s fun to mix other prints in with the plaid.  I’ve done snakeskin (cuz I can’t not wear snakeskin…), polka dots, camo, sherpa and animal prints.  Here are some great plaid options if you want to do the same!

Rails is a great shirt brand and I love this BLACK & WHITE version | My shirt below is from this brand many years ago, but here is an updated version.  I bet this shirt is 6+ years old and I wear it every year and it still looks brand new. | I have and LOVE this plaid tunic (less than $30) | Favorite brand for shirts and shirt dress here. (Also, carried locally at South Harmony) | Again, great shirts and shirt dresses.  Love the colors of this one! (under $100) | The self-proclaimed “Perfect Shirt” – I haven’t tried their shirts, but I know their jeans ARE perfect. ($200) | Got a bun in the oven?  This is too cute!  | BooHoo less than $30 | Nordstrom find less than $30 and so cute! | One of my favorite laid-back brands. | Another great shirt brand nails it. | WOW!  This is unique and stunning. | Joie – another go-to top brand. | Color of the season, maroon/oxblood, shows up in this one. | Ex-Boyfriend from the Top Plaid choice for me this year! | Another ex-boyfriend here.

Get plaid with me!

Blankets You Wear

Moving from Florida to North Georgia was a big move for me in my 20s.  I LOVE the beach, but turns out this North Georgia change of seasons is a nice thing, too.  I love when the weather turns and you can start piling on the cozies.  Blanket Scarves might be the very best thing ever created… Well, maybe after the iPhone, but nevertheless, a pretty big win!  These go with lots of outfits, too.  They look really cute with stripes or animal prints.  Here are links to a few great ones + a big secret place to find great accessories including Blanket Scarves around $30.  I know… you’re welcome!  Hee Hee

Shirt Dress Love

Shirt dresses are a great Fall choice because they look good alone or under a cardi – short or long – or blazer or vest, with sandals or boots, dressed up for dressed down.  In the South, the mornings and evenings can be cool and it can still get pretty warm midday.  Shirt dresses allow you to layer and unlayer as needed.  I’ve found quite a few that I would love to wear – ranging from $39 – $917 – I don’t have them all.  I’d need to clone myself to wear all the great shirt dresses available.  I’ll have as many as I can justify, though.  I’ve highlighted the ones I like the most and linked to all of them below the picture.  shirt Dress

Scarves, Plaid, Hiking, Cul-de-sac Parties – Fall in the Burbs (Plus a Crowd-Pleaser of a Banana Pudding Recipe)

It was an absolutely beautiful weekend in North Georgia!  Our first dose of Fall.  As I write this early Monday morning, the weather man says is just dropped into the 30s in Blairsville, GA.  Boot weather is right around the corner, people.  Fashion-wise, it was a great weekend to break out my first SMIJ scarf of the season and some plaid.  Sitting around a firepit watching football and then, loaded down with my Banana Pudding contribution (recipe below), headed off to a neighborhood cul-de-sac party.  Perfect Fall Day with perfect Fall layers.

Old Navy Plaid Tunic (LOVE this pullover and it comes in two colors)

Paige Skinny Jeans (so comfy and flattering (slimming!))

Kendra Scott Necklace (pop of unexpected color)

“Jeans & a Tee” SMIJ Scarf

Favorite Fall polish color on hands and Game Day Red on Toes

And, of course, Tory sandals.

Banana Pudding Recipe that is ALWAYS a hit!

1 Large Cream Cheese

1 Large Cool Whip

1 Large Box Instant Vanilla Pudding

3 Cups Cold Milk

1 Can Sweetened Condensed Milk (Eagle Brand)

1 Box Vanilla Wafers

5-6 Bananas

Mix Cream Cheese & Condensed Milk and set aside. Mix Instant Pudding with 3 Cups Cold Mild, set aside. Combine the cream cheese mixture and the pudding and then add Cool Whip.  Put a layer of pudding in the bottom of a 13X9 inch pan or dish, then a layer of wafers, and a layer of bananas.  Continue layering, ending with pudding.  Crush some wafers on top of pudding.  Take your masterpiece to a cul-de-sac, football or BBQ party!

Plaid & Bangles

Such a crisp Fall day calls for a crisp plaid and bangles.  Hubs had the same idea I realized so we took a picture of our coordinating plaids.  Everyone saw us coming this day!  Both of these plaids had unexpected color combinations, mine even allowing me to wear my turquoise elephant bangle I’ve been dying to wear.  A little bit western, a little bit chic, a lot of plaid!
