Put the finishing touch on a summer tee dress with a cute, wild pair of flip flops. My two go-to brands for beach and pool are Tory Burch and Havaianas. They are waterproof, comfortable, fun and really liven up any beachy outfit. Above I mixed prints which is so scary, but I think I nailed it… if I do say so myself. I will be wearing the heck out of these wedge flip-flops this summer. Green is a favorite color, these go with black and white nicely and the wedge gives some comfort and flatters the leg. Sold!
I’ve gathered some great choices below. Hope you find your new favorite!

One thing I’ve come to value is a great, comfortable pair of neutral wedges. These and a pair of flip-flops and you could get away with packing only two pairs of shoes for a vacation (but, who would really do that?!). My point is that they go with everything – even a black dress. I love the way they look with anything, anytime. Get a pair with a good platform for comfort in a color that flatters you own skin tone and you are set for summer with dresses, cropped jeans, boot cut jeans – really, any jeans! – shorts or caftans.
Below, I’ve linked below to a few of my favorites from my two go-to shoe designers. Enjoy the hunt!

I loved these crazy jeans since the moment I laid eyes on them (they come in white, too!). It took me a few weeks to work up the nerve to wear them and… now I can’t stop. They are really lightweight and flowy, making them great summer jeans, but I just think they are so cute. They go with all kinds of shoes and tops and just give a little bit of interest to everyday outfits. I’m officially obsessed and way over-wearing them. I’ve linked to mine and the white ones below. I highly recommend them for your summer days.
When in Rome… Yes, had to have a Turner Field hot dog. This, and the lake, are pretty much the only two places I can eat a hot dog. They just taste good at baseball games and on lake days. My son asks me “Mom, do you know what’s in those things?!?!” For some reason, I can pretend I don’t in these environments. Either way, it was a beautiful Atlanta night and fun to spend a little time in The Ted before we move to the new stadium next season. I’ve had lots of good memories at Turner Field over the years and this one ranks right up there, too. And, on a fashion note, navy and white gingham just seems to work for Spring baseball. I love this “boy shirt” in lightweight gingham for these Spring nights. Shop it below – use code extraextra for 25% off the gingham shirt now.
The summer forecast calls for striped tee dresses and you will have no trouble finding one or more for all your summer plans. I’ve rounded up a few below including my exact dress and shoes. These are so easy to pack, throw on with a few accessories and you’re good to go for a day of sightseeing. I really began to love these for travel when I added babies to my beloved road trips. One less item of clothing (pants!) to deal with on bathroom breaks (TMI, I know…) made road trips a little easier and every little bit helps. Have you ever tried holding a baby while taking a potty break?! I’m not juggling babies anymore, but I do still love these dresses for travel. See the list I’ve curated below.
On an absolutely perfect Spring day in Atlanta we ventured out for a SMIJ Field Trip. This particular trip has been on my 2016 list and I was down to one more day until it was gone.. gone.. gone.. It is the SCAD FASH, Museum of Fashion + Film and, great news, it’s been extended through April 17th. It’s a small exhibit at SCAD that combines a few of my favorite things. First of all, a great girly morning which could only be ended with lunch on a Buckhead patio… of course. Secondly, it’s in midtown and I love an excuse to get into the city. Third, it’s about fashion which I just find so fun. Lastly, it included a photography exhibit which included shots of the “upper echelon” of fashion. Very fun to get a glimpse into a moment in time in the lives of these creative people.
After the photography exhibit we turned the corner to see a room full of “costumes”, the first U.S. exhibition of Daniel Linsmore, a London-based very flamboyant stylist. He has been proclaimed “London’s Most Outrageous Dresser” by Vogue. After seeing this exhibit, I have to believe Vogue must be correct.
It was a fun morning! I recommend grabbing a girlfriend, or your daughter, and heading out for a great morning of fashion, photography and fun.
I love a bold statement ring for Spring. I think they add a fun pop to your look and it’s fun in the Spring because your hands aren’t hidden in gloves or buried deep in pockets to keep warm. It’s time to shine and here are some of my current favorites (all under $125) from the two places I get most of my statement rings – Nordstrom and BaubleBar.
It might seem like a strange time of year to do a sunglasses post, but this is when I need them the most. When the leaves are off the trees, the sun is much more present and I find myself grabbing for the darkest shades often. The green trees seem to absorb some of the brightness in the summer. And, the rare times it snows in the South, the glare off the snow is the same as the glare off the sand in the summer. So, have I justified new sunglasses purchases enough? I think so!
I made a list of some faves for you. I think Sunglass Hut might be doing their $40 off a second pair deal right now in store, too. Happy Hunting!
I love the South because we get a good long season in the Spring and Fall where you can be in jeans and long sleeves, but still wear sandals. There are some sandals that just feel to heavy or substantial in our HOT summers, but they are perfect for the cooler Fall air. I have quite a few pairs in my possession and they are on a rotation from now until after Halloween when the boots are here to stay. And, of course, Fall sandals are a great excuse for the Fall polish colors like Essie Wicked.
